Realizing the importance of the water sector in the overall economic and social development of Jordan, the University of Jordan (UJ) established the Water and Environment Research and Study Centre as an independent research unit linked to the university president in 1982. More recently, energy was realized as another strong challenge to Jordan’s economic and social development as energy sources in Jordan are very limited. Global Production Engineering for Solar Technology (GPE-Solar) is a two-year master program in English, offered by the TU Berlin. The degree program offers comprehensive qualification in the solar technologies photovoltaic and solar thermal systems.
